Liposuction

LIPOSUCTION is a technique used to rid the body of unwanted fat pockets. It is NOT a substitute for weight loss. After pregnancy, many women will develop such pockets in the lower abdomen. Some women have a genetic predisposition to collect fat in the lateral thighs. Men have the tendency to collect fat along the sides of the waist. Both sexes may have familial tendencies to collect fat in the anterior neck. Such deposits can be resistant to diet and exercise. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia in our surgical center. Post operative discomfort is minimal to moderate. The wearing of elastic garments is encouraged after surgery to speed up the return to normalcy in the suctioned areas. The palpable lumpiness common after liposuction will disappear much more rapidly with light compression.

Approximately 1 Hour

Recovery
7-10 days to return to normal activities. 2-3 months to lose all swelling.

Results
Permanent – assuming normal diet and exercise


Technology
The removal of such fat pockets in our office is facilitated by the use of PAL or “power assisted liposuction” technique which has been shown to be the most consistent technique to achieve the desired results. Pre suction injections reduce post operative swelling and discomfort.
