Liposuction

Liposuction is a common surgical procedure that removes deposits of excess fat from specific areas of the body such as the abdomen, back, hips, thighs, arms and neck. The best candidates for liposuction are healthy women or men who want to improve their body shape and contour trouble areas where exercise and diet do not seem to have any effect.

Procedure:
This procedure is performed through tiny incisions using tumescence technique (a solution of saline anesthetic is injected making the area tumescent or swollen to permit easier separation of the fat from the surrounding tissue) Then different sized canulas are inserted through the tiny incision and the fat is removed with the use of suction.

Recovery:
The patient goes home with a light dressing and elastic wrap and garment on the area that is suctioned. There will be some postoperative discomfort for a few days that is easily controlled with medication. Swelling and discoloration usually subsides within a three to six weeks.
