If you have dieted and exercised and find yourself with stubborn pockets of fat, Liposuction surgery could provide a solution to your problem. Dr. Fisher commonly uses the procedure on patients who have stable weight who have localized fat deposits on the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, arms, knees, calves and/or breasts. Liposuction is the most performed cosmetic procedure in the United States and one of the most common surgeries performed by Dr. Fisher.
Your Consultation
Dr. Fisher thinks it is important that you understand that liposuction is not a cure for obesity. The best candidates for Liposuction are those who have localized areas of fat and are close to their ideal weight. When you come for your consultation, Dr. Fisher will talk to you about what you hope to accomplish from the surgery. You should also be prepared with your questions and concerns you would like him to address during your visit. Dr. Fisher will spend as much time as necessary to make sure you are comfortable with the procedure and his skills as a surgeon. You should plan on spending 60 to 90 minutes at the office the day of your appointment.
Your Procedure
Prior to your liposuction, Dr. Fisher will give you a pre operative and post operative instructions to follow. To be prepared for your surgery and make your recovery process easier, we suggest you follow these instructions closely. Liposuction is typically done on an outpatient basis and normally will take between 1-2 hours to complete. After your procedure, the cells that are removed generally do not grow back as long as you maintain a proper weight in the liposuctioned areas again.
Your Recovery
You will be required to wear a compressive garment for 2 to 4 weeks after surgery to give you the best possible results. The amount of time needed to recover will vary based on the number of areas which require liposuction. If you need the procedure in one small area, you will require limited downtime.
