Liposuction

Liposuction is a procedure that can sculpt the body by removing unwanted fat from specific areas, including the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms, chin, cheeks and neck. Dr. Davis is familiar with all types of liposuction, including ultrasound assisted and laser assisted. Dr. Davis utilizes the tumescent technique to provide patients with more precise results and quicker recovery times. Small incisions are made in close proximity of the area to be suctioned. A saline solution type liquid is injected into the area of fat to be removed. This solution helps to minimize bleeding and helps to get the fat emulsified and easier to remove. The fat is then suctioned out via a cannula. Once the procedure is complete, a compression garment is put on the patient. This garment will be worn for several weeks under clothes to help with swelling, and to compress the skin back down onto the muscle, now that the layer of fat is gone. Typical recovery time for liposuction is two weeks, with most patients returning to work within one week.

The best candidates for liposuction are normal weight with firm elastic skin that have fat in particular problem areas that are not responding to diet or exercise. You should be physically healthy, psychologically stable and realistic in your expectations.

Submental liposuction is a procedure that removes fat specifically under the chin. It is often the answer for a “double-chin,” or for someone not quite ready for a facelift. It is quick, painless and requires just a weekend recovery.

The cost for liposuctions is dependent upon the number of areas and place the procedure is performed.
