He is on the forefront of innovative techniques in the field of cosmetic medicine introducing DNA-based age management to the DC community, a new and effective scar management system, assimilating multiple disciplines under one roof to create a unique wellness center, as well as multiple innovations in cosmetic surgery. He is a visiting lecturer of plastic surgery at the University of Virginia, a guest speaker at the prestigious Yvonne de Vilar skin care institute, and staff member at INOVA Fairfax Hospital, where he teaches plastic surgery residents. Winner of the plastic surgery chairman's award, he has co-authored several scientific articles in various peer- reviewed plastic surgery journals. He has recently published two chapters in cosmetic surgery books about neck lifts and breast augmentations, and is currently co-authoring a book on neck lifts.
On the Forefront of Cosmetic Surgery
Dr. Bitar has been featured as an expert in cosmetic surgery on TV shows such as "Healthline" and "The Prudent Advisor", on XM Satellite Radio, and in numerous national and international magazines. Uniquely trained by some of the modern masters of cosmetic surgery in Rio de Janeiro, Paris, New York, and Beverly Hills, Dr. Bitar has assimilated the latest techniques, offering each patient an individualized plan, whether surgery is the goal or non-surgical improvement. Dr. Bitar applies his artistic talents acquired through watercolor painting and photography to providing his patients their own unique, aesthetic harmony. Dr. Bitar lives in Northern Virginia with his wife Rima.
Also fascinated by the arts, Dr. Bitar applies his artistic talents to watercolor painting and photography and providing his patients their own unique, aesthetic harmony.
Education
Dr. Bitar obtained his medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC and finished a general surgery residency at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. His plastic surgery residency was completed at the University of Virginia plastic surgery program, which provided him with a strong foundation in reconstructive surgery of people injured in accidents, facial deformities, severe burns, hand surgery, and microsurgery.
As a continued commitment of enhancing the quality of life through plastic surgery, Dr. Bitar has volunteered on medical missions to various countries and operated on children with severe burn, facial and hand deformities. He volunteers on the medical school admissions committee at George Washington University. Dr. Bitar is also fluent in French and Arabic.
Uniquely Trained by Many of Today's Modern Masters of Plastic Surgery
To provide his patients with high quality cosmetic surgery, Dr. Bitar completed a cosmetic and breast surgery fellowship in the United States at a prestigious Cosmetic Surgery Center with ten board-certified plastic surgeons. Internationally, he trained with some very prominent cosmetic surgeons, and learned the techniques of Dr. Ivo Pitanguy, the father of Brazilian cosmetic surgery, in Rio de Janeiro, Dr. Marchac, in Paris, Dr. Mendelson in Melbourne, Dr. Widgerow in Johannesburg, Dr. Giampapa in New York, and Dr. Ellenbogen in Beverly Hills.
With this international training, Dr. Bitar has assimilated the secrets of these prominent cosmetic surgeons in offering each patient an individualized treatment plan.
Plastic Surgery Areas of Expertise
His expertise in cosmetic surgery spans mastery in the latest surgical and minimally invasive techniques to scar management and reduction. He has co-authored various articles and two book chapters and teaches other plastic surgeons his state-of-the-art neck lift technique with a hidden scar and a special fibrin sealant for younger people who don't need a full facelift and want a quick recovery period. He is also an expert in body contouring, especially after significant weight loss, ranging from liposuction, creating a contoured "six-pack" abdomen to arm lifts, thigh lifts, tummy tucks, and lower body lifts. Dr. Bitar is a member of the American Society of Bariatric Plastic Surgeons.
He has completed a breast fellowship and wrote a book chapter on breast augmentations via the axillary approach, so he offers his patients a variety of options when it comes to breast enhancement including breast augmentations, reductions, lifts, and replacement of breast implants. He also believes in minimally invasive techniques and uses natural fillers, and Botox injections for minimally invasive facial rejuvenation, giving great improvements with minimal down time. In addition, Dr. Bitar is an expert in non surgical rhinoplasties
His comprehensive approach to facial rejuvenation perfected in Beverly Hills includes forehead lifts, facelifts, neck lifts, eyelid lifts, nasal reshaping, fat grafting and skin care. He trained in Johannesburg with a leading expert in Scar management program, and offers it to his patients. He has been an invited guest speaker on laser treatments as well as guidelines for safety of anesthesia in plastic surgery.
