Liposuction is a very commonly performed procedure by Dr. Adamson in Sarasota for body contouring. Through multiple small puncture incisions the area to be treated is injected with a wetting solution (tumescent technique). This solution helps create smooth contouring during the liposuction procedure, while decreasing bleeding. The solution also contains local anesthesia to increase comfort. After injecting the tumescent solution Dr. Adamson uses a small liposuction cannula to perform the liposuction / liposculpture in a selective manner to create the desired new body contours. The abdomen, arms, thighs, “love handles”, waist, and hips are the most commonly treated areas. The neck and even the ankles can be treated in appropriate candidates.
The best candidates for liposuction are people who have areas of fatty deposits with overlying good skin elasticity and who are in good general health.
The procedure is performed as an outpatient in the accredited surgery center under general anesthesia performed by the anesthesia team. It is usually recommended to take 1-2 week off of work to recover, depending upon your occupation. Email Dr. Adamson Back to top
